Trauma-Informed Therapy for Adults Recover from Childhood Trauma
You have had more than your fair share of life’s challenges. There are aspects of your past that have been difficult for you to work through. There are things from your past that you don’t talk about- painful truths that you carry with you. You are not sure you are ready to talk, but the weight feels heavy on your shoulders.
It’s been painful and isolating to deal with these feelings on your own, and you feel like others don’t understand you. At times you don’t even understand yourself. You often feel sad, anxious, stressed, and guilty. There are times when your feelings are overwhelming, and then other instances when you feel numb or nothing at all.
There have been many times in your life when your needs have not been prioritized. There have been people in your life who were not able to care for you, protect you, or show you love in the ways that you needed. All of this has left you in a place where you find it difficult to trust, and it doesn’t feel safe to show your true self to the world.

Trauma impacts our capacity to feel safe and present to experience our feelings fully.
What to expect in trauma therapy
While we cannot change past events, we can explore the narrative surrounding them and create an environment that fosters deep inner healing. I believe in the power of having someone witness your story and in learning new ways to connect with yourself. However, sharing your full story is not a requirement to benefit from trauma therapy. What’s most important is that you feel safe, supported, and in control of what you choose to disclose throughout our work together.
In therapy, you will be invited to reflect on who you are and how you relate to yourself and others. There are aspects of how we relate and how we are experienced by others that often remain hidden from our awareness. Trauma therapy offers a space to examine these hidden parts of yourself with curiosity, creating room to release emotional burdens that have been carried alone for too long.
Working with a trauma therapist allows you to rebuild emotional resilience, cultivate self-compassion, and develop strategies to regulate your nervous system so you no longer feel trapped in survival mode.
My counseling approach for online trauma therapy in NY
I believe in creating a space of emotional safety. Leading with curiosity and compassion, I strive to foster an atmosphere where you can freely explore your inner world. Trauma, especially early childhood trauma and complex PTSD (CPTSD), often impacts our ability to trust others—and even ourselves. My goal is to help rebuild that trust.
While symptom management is an important part of trauma therapy, my focus goes beyond just managing symptoms. We can "manage" symptoms without truly healing. I aim to guide you toward a deeper understanding of yourself so that you can heal the places inside where you are most hurting. My approach to trauma therapy involves helping you change the relationship you have with yourself and your story, while also reducing trauma-related symptoms.
I take a holistic and integrative approach in my therapy sessions because your well-being is best supported when we address your unique needs—mind, body, and spirit. My counseling approach integrates elements of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness. I tailor each session to your specific needs, using a combination of therapeutic techniques that best support your growth.
I do not practice shame-based modalities because I firmly believe that true healing cannot happen through shame. My approach is non-pathologizing and deeply considerate. I meet you where you are in your healing journey. Our sessions are collaborative, focusing on processing, exploring, and navigating your challenges together.

Consistent sessions allow us to work on a deeper, more meaningful level, addressing what may be underlying trauma symptoms and relationship challenges. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, working toward understanding and transforming patterns that might be holding you back.
In our sessions, we’ll focus on building emotional regulation skills, helping you feel safer in your body, and developing mindfulness practices to reduce dissociation. My approach is trauma-informed, ensuring that your comfort and safety remain a priority.
There are no expectations beyond showing up and sharing your concerns at a pace that feels right for you. Each session is 45 minutes and conducted online through a secure telehealth platform.
